On Paper

How come, all digital devices and long text products that claim an independent digital existence stay so close to the offline original?

How come, Amazon Kindle is called “paperwhite” and not “softlook”, “easyeye” or whatsoever?

How come, digital books stay linear in all dimensions, without obvious necessity, just like paper sheets.

How come, the navigation of ereader stays exactly like the paper version, flipping pages with arrows left to right, again without necessity.
This imitation is so useless, it hurts; because in the end it is much easier to flip forward to passages in an original book, than browsing and waiting till the pages loads in a modern ereader.

The best feature in ebooks, viz. the search, is hidden behind clumsy menu items, and never pushed to its full potential.

In all readers to date the integration of media is poor. Pictures have terrible quality, giant size or even require an additional viewer(!). Not to speak of videos… Videos! Why are the no moved images deeply integrated?

Long way to go, digital publishers. Long way.
